Surrey Hills Story Trail

 

 

In addition to the regular 'Waxing Lyrical' Storytelling Practice and Coaching Group for Adults, in the coming months Surrey Storytellers Guild have arranged a programme of workshops and an evening class to enable you to develop your storytelling capability. So whatever your interests/capability there will surely be a workshop/class to enable you to develop your skills in a friendly environment, and have fun!

Saturday 11th September.
Using Storytelling in Bereavement
with Janet Dowling.

How do people come to terms with loss, such as bereavement? How can those working with them support the process of coming to terms with loss and moving on?

In this workshop you will explore the gentle yet powerful approach of working with stories, traditional, personal and "made-up", to facilitate healing in loss. This workshop is presented by the Epsom and Ewell and Mole Valley branch of Cruse Bereavement Care.

Storytelling for Improvers - the Passion of Performance

Graham Langley.

Graham Langley is an international renowned storyteller and works on the performer and the story as a single entity.

Using your own intuition as to the content and the emotional qualities of the story he will help you find ways to give these full expression for an audience.

For improvers and experienced storytellers.

Once Upon A Time – Beginners Storytelling Skills for Adults with Janet Dowling in association with  WEA.


Discover the ancient art of oral storytelling and learn how to apply storytelling skills to different parts of your life, such as telling to children or adults, making presentations and being more confident in job interviews.

This will complement the Waxing Lyrical practice and coaching group. It will cover basic theory and skills for storytelling, with an opportunity for weekly practice and feedback to really develop your telling. At Waxing Lyrical on the night you attend you practice one piece of the jigsaw - this course give an overview of the whole jigsaw which will benefit your attendance at Waxing Lyrical.

There is a minimum of 8 for this course to run.
