Giles Abbot tells “Pygmalion & Manayddan”.

gilesabbottGiles Abbot lovingly patches and mends a rare and delicate lacework of the greek myth of Pygmalion and a very personal retelling of Manawyddan, son of Llyr, the third branch of the Mabinogi. Through these stories, Giles explores how we cope with unwanted change and adversity, and how creativity can help us face these challenges and make life work anew.

Friday 24th. Feburary.

Luke Oates tells “Hit the Road Jack!”  & Leslie Bell tells “The Legend of Ruebezah.” This is the night of the year where we encourage two of our regular floor tellers to crank up their storytelling a gear, and give us a longer retelling of their stories! Tonight its Luke Oates and Leslie Bell.  Luke will take us down many a winding road searching for tales of tricksters and stories of extraordinary journeys. Leslie Bell knows of Ruebezahl, a mountain spirit from Silesia, who is not to be trifles wth. But then neither is Leslie….

Friday 23rd. March.

taffyTaffy Thomas tells “Storytellers’ Ghosts”. Former Storytelling laureate Taffy Thomas, tells stories  from the “ghosts” behind him - six late storytellers who have influenced him. A unique opportunity to hear how tales from diverse British tradition can link to the present.
Note that this is a different show to the one in Farnham Maltings - take the opportunity to see both!

Friday 27th. April.

markMark Steinhardt tells “a Tragedy, a Comedy and a Romance”. From isolated Bedfordshire, Mark Steinhardt’s storytelling is like antipodean marsupials - familiar but particular. He will be telling three stories covering the whole of human emotion - tragedy, romance and comedy. What more could there be?
