Storytelling is one of the oldest forms of entertainment in the world – and is also the way societies hand down their histories and values from one generation to the next. It is currently enjoying a revival thanks to a renewed interest in the folk arts which also include music, song and dance. There are lots of storytelling circles and events run across the UK, at which everyone is welcome – either to listen or tell a story of their own. This web site is about Storytelling in Surrey for adults and children.

Please note that the Surrey Storytellers Guild links page,
(now called Links & Resourses) has been updated to include information on:

  • Links to other relevant storytelling web sites.
  • Storytellers in Surrey.
  • Websites for Out of Print texts and downloadable books.
  • Storyteller websites with useful links to other resources.
  • Storytelling Podcasts.

In Surrey, we are developing a Storytellers’ Progress Pathway to support and develop people as storytellers. This article outlines what we are doing. It’s been incremental, may not be the best way and we emphasis that what we do is a tool not a rule. We want to improve and develop and would be interested to hear what others are doing.

To view/read this article on Storytellers Progress Pathway you will need a  Portable Document Format (PDF) reader installed on your computer; if you do not already have this installed it can be downloaded free from Adobe.
